Terms and Conditions

The Mi The Mi Summit 2024 (“Contest”) is conducted by Xiaomi Technology India Private Limited (“Xiaomi”) on the Mi Summit Website (“Website”). Please read these terms and conditions (“Terms”) before entering the Contest. For the purpose of these Terms and, wherever the context so requires, “you” or “student” shall mean any natural or legal person who has agreed to participate in this Contest. The term “Xiaomi”, “we”, “us”, “our” shall mean Xiaomi and its affiliates

You agree that, by participating in this Contest, you will be bound by these Terms and you acknowledge that you satisfy all Contest eligibility requirements as provided herein below.

1. ELIGIBILTY
1.1. The Contest is only open to students who are currently enrolled in their first and second year of the two-year full-time masters of business administration programs from the following institutions (“Institutions”), irrespective of their specializations: 1. FMS Delhi, 2. IIM Indore 3. IIM Kozhikode 4. IIM Lucknow 5. IIM Shillong 6. JBIMS Mumbai 7. MDI Gurgaon 8. NMIMS Mumbai 9. XLRI Jamshedpur 10. IIM Calcutta 11. IIM Ranchi 12. Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai 13. IIM Udaipur 14. IIFT 15. IIT Delhi 16. IIM Trichy 17. IIM Nagpur 18. SIBM Pune 19. IIM Raipur 20. IIM Amritsar 21. IIM Rohtak 22. NITIE 23. MICA 24. IIT Bombay 25. IIT Madras 26. Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneshwar 27. IIT Kharagpur 28. Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai 29. Indian Institute of Management, Visakhapatnam 30. S. P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai 31. Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD), Pune. 1.2. Apart from the Institutions mentioned above, students studying in other colleges, pursuing two-year MBA programs can enrol for the Contest, by selecting the “Others” option from the drop-down menu. 1.3. You should be an individual legal resident of the Republic of India. 1.4. You should be aged 18 years or above at the time of entry into the Contest. 1.5. Employees of Xiaomi and its affiliates, their immediate family members (spouses, domestic partners, parents, grandparents, siblings, children and grandchildren), and employees of Xiaomi’s advertising agencies and Contest partners are not eligible to participate in this Contest. 1.6. Your eligibility to participate will be based on your status as on 31(st) August, 2024[RP1] [NkN2] .
2. HOW TO PARTICIPATE
2.1. There is no registration fee for the Contest. 2.2. Teams can register on the following website - https://careers.event.mi.com/ 2.3. A team of two students are required to participate in the Contest. Students cannot register themselves as part of more than one team. The students in one team will have to be from the same Institution. Students irrespective of year of study and specializations must register in teams of 2 members. 2.4. Xiaomi reserves the right to check the validity of the registration information submitted at any point of time. 2.5. Students would require to submit proof, by way of registering using their Institute’s registered e-mail ID, or by way of providing their identification card scan, of being a current student of the two-year, full-time MBA program at the Institution, at the time of registration. Students submitting false information / misinformation during registration will be automatically disqualified. The decision of Xiaomi in this regard shall be final and binding. 2.6. Any deviation from the above will result in immediate disqualification of both teams that the student has registered with. 2.7. Modification of teams after registration will not be allowed. 2.8. Submissions for case study rounds must be in the form of a PPT or Word Document saved as PDF, not exceeding 5 slides or 3 pages.
3. CONTEST FORMAT
3.1. Case studies will be released for all Institutions along with the timelines on the Website. 3.2. The Contest shall have four rounds, as follows: –

Round 1 / Quiz

  • All the registered teams can participate in this round.
  • While registering, the team member marked as “Member 1” shall be designated as the Team Leader, and only the Team Leaders can attempt the quiz on behalf of their team.
  • The quiz will be released for Institutions simultaneously, on the Website, and the timing for the same will be communicated to the registered team.
  • Options are marked/weighted based on the appropriateness to that particular scenario.
  • A total time of 30 minutes will be given to complete the quiz round.
  • A question is to be answered or skipped before moving on to the next question, toggling across the questions is not allowed.
  • 8 teams from each Institution will be shortlisted for the next round based on their performance in the quiz differentiating factors being their score, and the time within which they are completing the quiz (“Round 2 Teams”).

Round 2 / Campus Round

  • Round 2 Teams shall receive the case studies for this round.
  • There will be three case studies, and the Round 2 Teams can choose any one case study of their choice.
  • Once the case study has been selected, it shall be locked, and can’t be changed.
  • The case studies will be opened across Institutions simultaneously and the same will be communicated to the Round 2 Teams via the Website.
  • Each team will have to work on the case study corresponding to the case study they chose.
  • Solutions for case studies shall be submitted by the Round 2 Teams, in the form of a PPT or Word Document saved as PDF, not exceeding 5 slides or 3 pages.
  • While registering, the team member marked as “Member 1”, shall be designated as the Team Leader, and only the Team Leader may submit the case study solution on behalf of their team (Naming Convention for the File: InstituteName_TeamName). For e.g., XLRI_Armada
  • Top 4 Round 2 Teams from each Institution shall be shortlisted for presenting their solution to our jury. This round will be conducted virtually.
  • Each shortlisted Round 2 Team will be given a specific time slot to present their detailed solution to the jury.
  • Jury will consist of members from the leadership team of Xiaomi who will evaluate each of the shortlisted teams.
  • Each team will be given 15 minutes (10 minutes presentation time + 5 minutes Q&A) to present their solution.
  • The jury will declare one winner team from each Institution to move on to the next round (“Round 3 Teams”).

Round 3 / Cluster Round

  • This round will be conducted virtually.
  • Each Round 3 Team shall be allocated to one of six (6) randomized clusters or groups (“Clusters”).
  • All Round 3 Teams shall present their detailed solutions to Part-II of the case study, which is a continuation of the earlier case study.
  • A jury consisting of members from the Leadership team of Xiaomi will evaluate each of the shortlisted. Each team will be given 20 minutes (15 minutes presentation + 5 minutes Q&A) to present their solution.
  • A total of twelve (12) Round 3 Teams shall be shortlisted, across Clusters, and such twelve (12) Round 3 Teams shall proceed to the next round (“Round 4 Teams”).

Round 4 / Grand Finale

  • This round will take place at Xiaomi head office in Bangalore.
  • Round 4 Teams shall present their solutions to the distinguished jury consisting of top leaders of Xiaomi India.
  • Each Round 4 Team will be given 25 minutes (20 minutes presentation + 5 minutes Q&A) to present their solutions.
4. PRIZES TO BE WON
4.1. Grand Finale/Round 4: The winner team will receive a cash prize of INR 2,00,000/-, whereas the runner-up team will receive a cash prize of INR 1,00,000/- and PPIs[RP3] . 4.2. Cluster Round/Round 3: The winning teams across the six (6) Clusters shall receive INR 120000+ worth of Xiaomi goodies along with PPIs. 4.3 One of the Finalist team could win the People Choice Award of INR 35,000/-, depending on the number of votes. [RP4] [NkN5] 4.4. All the winners will be declared in person and later uploaded on the Website. 4.5. All entries must be received within the specified timeline in order to be entered in the Contest. Xiaomi, its affiliates and agents are not responsible for entries not received, for whatever reason. 4.6. Winners will be selected from all eligible case studies received during the specified submission period and shall be determined at the sole discretion of Xiaomi. 4.7. Each of the winners will be notified via e-mail, using contact information provided or collected at the time of registration. The onus is on each member of the participating teams to ensure that the contact information submitted at the time of registration is correct and continues to be valid during the competition. 4.8. Xiaomi shall have no liability for any winner notification that is lost, intercepted or not received by a winner for any reason. 4.9. If, despite reasonable efforts, each potential winner does not respond within 30 days of the first notification attempt, or if the prize or prize notification is returned as unclaimed or undeliverable to such potential winner, such potential winner will forfeit his or her prize and an alternate winner may be selected. 4.10. If any winner is found to be ineligible, or if he or she has not complied with these Terms or declines the prize for any reason prior to award, such potential winner will be disqualified and an alternate winner may be selected. 4.11. In any case of conflict, jury’s decision will be final.
5. CONTEST PERIOD

The tentative Contest Period for each round is stated below: –

  • Registrations will start from 29(th) July 2024 from 17:00 IST till 4(th) August 2024 23:59 IST
  • Quiz will start on 5(th) August 2024 at [6:00PM] IST
  • Round 2 will be held virtually and will start from 20(th) August 2024 from 11:00 IST till 23(rd) August 2024 19:00 IST
  • Round 3 will be held virtually and will start from 2(nd) September from 11Am IST till 5(th) September 2024 11pm IST
  • Round 4 – The grand finale will be held at Xiaomi Head Office, Bangalore on 16(th) of September

5.2. Entries received outside the prescribed timelines / not in the prescribed format / incomplete / plagiarized will not be considered eligible for Contest

5.3. If there is any conflict between the timelines mentioned in the Terms and the Website, the timelines mentioned on the Website will prevail

6. INTERNET AND DATA ISSUES

Please make sure that your internet connection is stable during the Contest. As this contest is being conducted virtually, the integrity of the Contest would be affected by technical disruptions. In exceptional circumstances, the affected teams may appeal to the support email id given on the Website for another chance to do their presentation. The decision on whether to grant such opportunity or not will be at the sole discretion of Xiaomi.

7. INDEMNIFICATION AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
7.1. By entering the contest, each student agrees to indemnify, release and hold harmless Xiaomi and its parent, affiliate and subsidiary companies, and all their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents from any liability, damages, losses or injury resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from that student’s participation in the contest and the acceptance, use or misuse of any prize that may be won. 7.2. Xiaomi and its parent, affiliate and subsidiary companies do not make any warranties, express or implied, as to the condition, fitness or merchantability of the prize. Xiaomi and its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies, and all their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents disclaim any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from access to or the download of information or materials connected with the contest. 7.3. You agree to be legally bound hereby, to release from any liability (including, but not limited to personal injuries, property loss or damage) and hold harmless Xiaomi and any of their affiliates, employees or agents from any loss, damage, liability, or claims arising in connection with the contest.
8. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

8.1. By participating in the Contest and submitting an entry, you grant Xiaomi the irrevocable right and permission or consent, royalty-free, non-exclusive, worldwide perpetual license to use the entry and your name, city and state of residence for use on Xiaomi’s website without further compensation, notification or permission, unless prohibited by law. All rights, title and interest, including but not limited to the intellectual property rights, in the Contest material(s) and in any and all responses received shall vest with Xiaomi respectively. Xiaomi or any person or entity permitted by Xiaomi in this regard shall be entitled to use the responses received or any information in connection with the entry in any media/platform for future contest, marketing, publicity and any other purpose, without any permission and or payment to you. Xiaomi will own the solutions presented to it as a part of the process and can choose to implement them in part or whole and will not pay any royalties or share any profits arising from such implementation.

8.2. In addition, each winner grants to Xiaomi an irrevocable, royalty-free, non-exclusive, worldwide perpetual license to use and distribute the entry (as submitted, or as edited by Xiaomi), and your name, city, and state of residence in any and all media now or hereafter known for purposes of promotion of the Contest and other Xiaomi contests and/or for purposes of advertising and promoting Xiaomi and, except as otherwise stated herein, without further compensation, notification or permission, unless prohibited by law.

8.3. You hereby grant Xiaomi the right and permission or consent to interview, photograph, videotape, and record you in respect of the Contest. You waive any right to inspect or approve any photo, video, film, written copy, or audio tape taken by Xiaomi or the person or entity designated by it. You further grant to Xiaomi a perpetual non-exclusive worldwide license to reproduce, and display copies of oral interviews, conversations and lectures (including without limitation by film, electronic media, videotape, or television), and to authorize others to do the same. All material submitted in connection with the Contest (whether written, audio, electronic or visual form, or a combination of those) or any photographs, video and/or film footage and/or audio recording taken of Students are assigned to Xiaomi upon submission and become the property of Xiaomi exclusively.

8.4. You hereby confirm that you read the terms and conditions, understand it, and intend it to be a binding instrument.

9. GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
9.1. In the event that the winner(s) decline the prize, the prize will be forfeited. 9.2. The winners each have 30 days from the date they were notified about their prize to claim the prize after which the prize will be forfeited. 9.3. The prize is not transferable, may not be substituted for or redeemed for cash, and may not be sold. 9.4. Failure to comply with these official rules may result in Student’s disqualification, at the sole discretion of Xiaomi. 9.5. Xiaomi reserves the right to terminate, suspend or amend the Contest, without notice, and for any reason, including, without limitation, if Xiaomi determines that the Contest cannot be conducted as planned. 9.6. In the event any tampering or unauthorized intervention may have occurred, Xiaomi reserves the right to void suspect entries at issue. 9.7. Xiaomi and its respective parent, affiliate and subsidiary companies, agents, and representatives, and any telephone network or service providers, are not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information, or for any human error, technical malfunction, lost or delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, line failure or malfunction of any telephone network, computer equipment or software, the inability to access any website or online service or any other error, human or otherwise.
10. PUBLICITY

The students undertake and irrevocably and unconditionally permit Xiaomi to cover the Contest through various media/platforms inter alia newspapers, radio, television, news channels, internet, point of sale materials, etc. Student shall not raise any objection, protest or demur to such coverage and their use of name, voice, likeness, image, illustrations etc. by Xiaomi in this regard. The consent recorded for participating in this Contest will be deemed to be consent for such publicity related efforts

11. PRIVACY POLICY
11.1. You will not be required to share any information with Xiaomi except where you win a prize, in which case you will have to share your email ID and mobile number. You hereby agree and understand that the information provided by you is personal information (“PI”) and you hereby consent to provide this information to Xiaomi for the purposes of this Contest. You understand that You have the right to choose to not provide the PI Xiaomi has requested, however You also understand that if You do not provide the PI, you will not be able to receive the prize. 11.2. Xiaomi shall collect and store your Correspondence Information to: (a) comply with Xiaomi’s obligations under law; and (b) deliver the prizes to you in accordance with these Terms. 11.3. You hereby agree and understand that the terms regarding sharing, transfer, disclosure, storing and protection of PI shall be governed by the following policy:
11.3.1. Xiaomi shall use the PI only for the purpose as specified herein. 11.3.2. Xiaomi will not sell the PI to third parties. 11.3.3. Xiaomi will only disclose your PI under the following circumstances:
11.3.3.1. Where we have obtained your explicit consent; 11.3.3.2. Disclosure based on law or reasonable grounds: including laws and regulations, legal procedures, litigation, or at the request of the competent government departments or agencies if the disclosure is necessary or appropriate for national security, law enforcement, or other matters of public health and safety. 11.3.3.3. Xiaomi may share your PI from time to time to other Xiaomi affiliates.
12. NO CHEATING

Cheating ruins the experience of the Contest for all students. If you are caught cheating by taking professional help, by plagiarizing solutions, by eavesdropping on other team’s rounds, etc. your team will be disqualified, prizes, if any will be taken back and this behaviour will be reported to the management of the team’s college. Xiaomi’s decision shall be final and binding in this regard.

13. MISCELLANEOUS
13.1. Xiaomi may, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law and in our sole discretion, change the Terms or cancel the Contest at any time; or modify, terminate, or suspend the Contest should viruses, worms, bugs, unauthorized human intervention or other causes beyond our control corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play of the Contest or submission of entries. Xiaomi will have no liability in relation thereto. 13.2. We are not responsible for: (a) lost, misdirected, late, incomplete, or unintelligible entries or for inaccurate entry information, whether caused by you or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest, or by any technical or human error that may occur in the processing of entries; (b) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Contest; (c) any error in the operation or transmission, theft, destruction, unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, or for technical, network, telephone, computer, hardware or software, malfunctions of any kind, or inaccurate transmission of, or failure to receive any entry information on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website; or (d) injury or damage to your or any other computer or mobile resulting from downloading any materials in connection with the Contest. 13.3. Xiaomi may, in its sole discretion, disqualify any individual found to be: (a) tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or Website; (b) acting in violation of these Terms; or (c) acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. 13.4. If your entry is incomplete or if you use robotic, automatic, programmed or similar entry methods, your entry will be void. 13.5. Xiaomi reserves the right of final decision on the interpretation of these Terms. 13.6. Students shall at no point of time divulge the details of the case study, the solutions or other details to any third party. 13.7. All correspondence related to the Contest will be made by Xiaomi through its email ID ind-careers@xiaomi.com only or on team specific accounts created on the Contest Website. Students are advised not to provide their details to calls/emails from any other ID and Xiaomi will have no liability in relation thereto. 13.8. You shall indemnify and hold harmless Xiaomi and its officers, directors, agents, and employees, from any claim or demand, or actions including reasonable attorneys’ fees, made by any third party or penalty imposed due to or arising out of your breach of these Terms. 13.9. Xiaomi shall not be liable for any loss or damage due to act of God, governmental actions, force majeure circumstances, or any other reason beyond its control, and shall not be liable to pay any monetary compensation or otherwise for the same. 13.10. These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the sole jurisdiction of the courts at Bangalore, India.

14. XIAOMI DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR USE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT OF THIRD-PARTY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, WILL XIAOMI OR ANY OF ITS AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS OR CONTRACTORS SHALL BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL OR EXEMPLARY LOSSES OR DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE CONTEST, UNDER TORT, COMMON LAW OR UNDER PUBLIC POLICY, EVEN IF SUCH PARTICIPANT HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
